Why do you charge a sitting fee and more for products than photography chains?
Our studio charges a sitting fee for most of our sessions, with the exception of studio specials and giveaways. While we try to keep our sitting fees very affordable, we do have to make sure we cover all of our expenses. The sitting fee is what we charge our clients to cover our time. It includes not only the time we spend taking your photographs, but also the following items:
- Setting up equipment/backgrounds
- Uploading your photos to our computer
- Editing, cropping and adjusting your photos so they are just right
- Uploading your proofs to our website and creating an easy to use gallery of your images
- Retouching all photos ordered for prints and/or digital files
- Uploading and selecting your images, prints and products for ordering through our lab
- Burning your digital files to a CD, or uploading them online for our clients
(When you break it down, it's actually less than $10/hr.)
While photography is my passion, is it not a hobby. It is my profession, and in order to cover expenses, such as our studio, equipment, supplies, and utilities, we can not charge the same price as large photography retailers, or high-volume online photo stores. We ask all of our clients to please keep this in mind when looking at our prices. I charge the minimum price I can to maintain our studio. I am not looking to get rich with my business, I am just looking to do what I love, at the best prices I can provide, while also providing for my family. Thank you for your understanding, and of course, make sure to take advantage of the specials we run throughout the year to save even more money!
